Bravehearts

This morning, while listening to the radio, the topic of discussion was men in kilts…the DJ explained that Kanye, Puff, and Vinn Diesel have all been spotted in the garb and Chris Brown stated that choice of wear was “suspect”. That’s Chris’s opinion and although my opinion does not have the influence of a Chris Brown tweet I still wanted to share my thoughts after hearing that piece on the radio, spotting Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson in a kilt, and the Fall/Winter 2012 Givenchy ad.
Below are screen shots from www.nice.onsugar.com (A female style blog that I frequently update) after I attended the “WATCH THE THRONE TOUR” in December 2011. And I will forever salute the men who are bold enough to try style (not fashion, STYLE). Half of the men I hear yapping, in Houston, in regards to the way men dress now days and time are usually coated in the Method Man/Redman look from their “HOW HIGH” era…the look that I now refer to as “old school uncle” steeze. I don’t knock that particular look but I do have a tendency to overlook it in 2012. But hey-to each it’s own…I refuse to knock the unordinary when it comes to style expression…MAKE FUN OF CLOTHES and STAY FAR FROM AVERAGE!

Missing Him

This young man requested that I shop and piece outfits for him long before I even considered sharing my style with anyone else. While driving thru Houston several places I see in passing makes me think of him on a weekly basis…and at the moment I cannot think of anything but him with it being his birthday on today (and the month he passed). I will always appreciate the fact that he trusted my taste in clothing from day one and I will never forget December 2010 when I shopped the last outfit for him to wear during his wake/funeral.

Wish there was a way to at least call him and say:

Third Ward is not the same without you…words cannot explain how much I miss giggling on the block with you. The holidays are not the same without you…I really miss the road trips with you and Nikki. Continue to watch over the family...especially your mother and granny.

See you in my dreams fam...

Style by the Mile: Trinidad James

Outside of FASHION/STYLE I’m usually OUT OF LOOP more than I’m in and thankfully I have my niece, whose in Junior High School, to keep me in the loop on all things spiffy (shame on me for using my niece’s word LOL). Recently she asked me if I liked Trinidad James’s style..."Who???" was my reply and she repeated his name. I then replied that I didn’t know who he was…she showed me his photos and, YES, any dude that can "make fun of clothes" and make it work in his favor gets my vote. Peep that VERSACE for H&M moto over the tartan trousers in the third photo...loving it! He has this whole southern T.I.$.A. thing going that will win the masses...I'm sure! Keep doing your thing Trinidad James!
